UAlg receives three masterclasses on Mediterranean Diet

Masterclasses are for the general public, but limited to 30 participants

The University of Algarve, through the MED Research Center – Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development, will promote three online masterclasses on the Mediterranean Diet, on the 20th, 25th and 29th of May.

The initiative aims to promote the Mediterranean Diet as «a multidisciplinary concept, but aggregating different aspects, ranging from the territory, food and different lifestyles», according to the University of Algarve.

On May 20, at 10:00 am, the first masterclass will be held, which will present a “Brief history of the Mediterranean and the humanization of the landscape”, “showing how the evolution of different civilizations has shaped the Algarve's natural and cultural landscape”.

On the 25th of May, at 15 pm, the theme “The pillars of Mediterranean food and gastronomy: nutritional aspects and healthy lifestyle” will be addressed.

The last session will take place on May 29, at 9:00 am, and will focus on “The role of cultural heritage in the development of tourist offers: opportunities and challenges”.

The initiatives take place within the scope of the “MD.net: When Brand Meets People” project, co-financed by the Interreg Med Program, aimed at the general public.

The masterclasses will be online and free, but limited to 30 participants, interested parties may register here.
