Telecommuting remains mandatory until the end of May

Measure advanced today by Mariana Vieira da Silva

Teleworking will continue to be mandatory in all municipalities in mainland Portugal until the end of May, indicated today the Minister of the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva.

Recalling the existence of the decree-law that empowers the Government to decide, depending on the risk levels, which municipalities must adopt teleworking as a mandatory regime, the minister pointed out that at this stage, while awaiting a new scenario of risk levels and disconfinement that is being defined by experts, it was decided that "until the end of May in the whole country telework remains mandatory".

The possibility of extending until the end of this month the regime that defines that telework remains mandatory in all municipalities in mainland territory had already been transmitted this Wednesday by the Government to the social partners during the meeting of the Social Concertation.

Thus, until May 31, the rules in force since mid-January, when the second general confinement was decreed, are maintained, according to which the adoption of the telework regime is mandatory, without the need for agreement between the parties and regardless of the relationship work, whenever teleworking is compatible with the activity performed and the worker has the conditions to perform it.
