Portimonense lost by 1-2 against Moreirense, this Monday, in a match counting for the 32nd round of the I League.

The team from Portimão had the opportunity to guarantee maintenance, if they won, and even scored first, but ended up failing to secure any points.

After an early game in which neither team managed to approach the opposing goal with danger, Portimonense ended up taking a lead on the scoreboard, by marking a penalty.

On minute 18, the referee considered that there was a foul by Abdu on Aylton Boa Morte in Moreirense's area and the VAR confirmed it. Called to score, Fabrício did not fail and put the home team to win 1-0.

Moreirense reacted and narrowly missed scoring minutes later, but Samuel, Portimonense's goalkeeper, avoided the worst with a tight defense.

After this move, both teams created dangerous moves, but it would be Moreirense to draw, already close to the break.

In the 44th minute, following a corner, Ferraresi jumped higher and headed for a goal.

In the second half, the dangers were scarce and the minutes advanced without a glimpse of a change in the result.

But Moreirense, who at the start of the last quarter of an hour had already shown themselves to be dangerous, ended up scoring. On minute 82, Abdu crossed and Gonçalo Franco, in the heart of the area, headed in the back of the net.

Portimonense tried to react and even managed to get close to the opponent's goal, but they uncovered the back

In such a way that, at 85, the Algarvians were caught on their back foot and suffered a valiant scare, but Franco failed to score twice.

Until the end, there was more will than mind and reason, on the part of the Algarve, who were unable to avoid defeat.

With this result, Portimonense maintains the same 34 points and the same 12th position, but risks being overtaken by Famalicão and equaled in points by Rio Ave, until the end of journey 32.

You will also be able to see the teams in the relegation/playoff zone, namely Farense and Boavista, approaching.

Next week, there's Boavista-Portimonense, a game that could be decisive for Portimonense's aspirations to stay in the I League.
