Young people from São Brás launch photo exhibition and publication “Beneath the Shadows”

This is an initiative that had the support of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel and Local Accommodation 1855

The exhibition “Beneath the Shadows”, a photographic project by young people from São Brás, Ricardo Belela and Adriana Reis, opens this Saturday, May 22, at 17:30 pm, at the Costume Museum of São Brás de Alportel.

In a game of light and environment, the youngsters «present women of different ages and backgrounds, in a unique way, while paying homage to the work of the late photographer Peter Lindbergh with this project that resulted in a photography exhibition and the publication “Beneath the Shadows”».

«We wanted to bring together women of different age groups, who already had one at ease with us and that this at ease would be visible in the images as well as their beauty», explains Ricardo Belela.

“Apart from the women, the crucial elements of this project would have to be the light and the environment, we wanted something different that would give a very unique touch to the project but at the same time resemble Peter Lindbergh's work Shadows on the Wall”, he adds.

However, the opportunity arose to use an Algarve house from the early XNUMXth century, whose walls and construction are very similar to those of the interior Museu do Traje in São Brás, it was these walls and the light coming from the windows that gave all the personality to the project that is now is presented and exhibited at the Museu do Traje.

This is an initiative that had the support of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel and Local Accommodation 1855.
