João Correia has the best world mark of the year in the 100 meters in wheelchair

Água Monchique will support athlete João Correia towards the next edition of the Tokyo Paralympic Games, which will take place between August 24th and September 5th.

João Correia was the first Portuguese athlete to win an international medal in wheelchair athletics, obtained the best world mark of the year in the 100 meters in wheelchair and maintains the 5th position in the world ranking for qualifying for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

João Correia was born in 1983, in Santo Tirso. At the age of two, he had an accident that left him in a wheelchair. In 1991, he started to practice sports, becoming the first Portuguese athlete to win an international medal, in wheelchair athletics. He already has 20 years of career and more than 68 participations in national and international competitions.
