The Algarve has amazing places and when it comes to restaurants, the choice is vast. Who doesn't like to have lunch or dinner with a breathtaking view in the background? Alone or accompanied, there are places that don't need a great presentation, the landscape speaks for itself.
Today I present some of the restaurants with the most incredible views across the Algarve. I was careful to choose restaurants that, in these times of distrust, are already (re)opened.
We start with Castro Marim. At Praia Verde, we can find the Panoramic Infant. A Mediterranean restaurant, located on the cliff, with an incredible view of the blue sea. The sunset in this restaurant is one of the most beautiful times of the day. Infante's specialties are, above all, based on fish and seafood, such as “Mariscada à Infante”, “Rice of Lingueirão with Sweet Potato”, “Raia Alhada à Algarvia”, among others.
This restaurant in the Eastern Algarve promises the best view in the area.
O Views, by chef Rui Silvestre, is a restaurant recognized with a Michelin star, located in Vila Nova de Cacela, in the Monte Rei Golf & Country Club.
The view over the green of the golf courses, surrounded by trees, lakes and nature, is overwhelming, but… what makes the combo perfect in this idyllic setting is the Atlantic Ocean that can be seen and makes the landscape worthy of a painting.
In this restaurant, the gastronomic experience is guaranteed. Chef Rui Silvestre, in his dishes, «embodies the most authentic values of Portugal: a strong connection with the ocean, a fascination for travel and discoveries, and a love for his country, for its identity and strong traditions».
With two tasting menus, “Fauna & Flora” and “Passeio Marítimo”, served until 21 pm, the promise is to embark «on a true journey through your senses, where the genuine flavors of the Algarve promise to surprise you. The perfect harmony between the aromas, sounds and colors so characteristic of the Eastern Algarve».
Em Faro, The castle, in the old town, has one of the most beautiful views in the city. On the deck of the restaurant/bar you can enjoy a beautiful view over the Ria Formosa and enjoy one of the places where the sunset is one of the most magical.
The ambient music that you hear perfectly at home with the calm that this place transmits. With various snacks or cocktails, you will certainly have a good time here.
You can try the delicacies of the Castle every day from 10am.
If on one side we have the sea as a view, on the other we have the old town where you can stroll and discover some of the tourist attractions in the area.
A Lake House, in Quinta do Lago, it has a perfect location: on the one hand, we are surprised by the beautiful landscape of the Ria Formosa and, on the other, by the blue of the well-known lake. The restaurant is located on the water and, therefore, its entire decoration refers to a nautical design.
Here, at night, the atmosphere is exquisite, but at the same time gives a vibe of “vacation” for those who visit it during the day. Those who know the space, advise you to visit it in the late afternoon, to have a drink in the lounge while you wait for the sunset, then move to your table and enjoy dinner. The fish and seafood display at the entrance is very inviting and leaves no doubt that, in this place, this is the specialty.
If you just want to enjoy a drink in the afternoon, it's very welcome. Enjoy and take your bathing suit, as the pool is very close to the bar!
O pepper's is steakhouse from the Hotel Tivoli Marina, in Vilamoura Marina, which can be visited by the general public. The Marina is one of the best known places in the Algarve, for its luxury boats and cars that travel there, but it is also one of the most frequented places during the summer. Therefore, it could not fail to include a restaurant with a panoramic view in the list.
Pepper's is «specialist in succulent and tender meats, with cuts premium and carefully selected, to be prepared to the point, served in the good American spirit».
The view gives a refined atmosphere and the ambient music perfectly matches the lights of the marina, which transform the restaurant's terrace into a charming atmosphere.
What if I told you that you could dine inside a mill overlooking Albufeira, with the sea in the background? Yes, this is possible in Windmill, in Alto do Moinho, Cerro da Piedade, in Albufeira.
The idea is very original and the experience is unique. This makes this space one of the most requested in the Algarve, serving only dinners with a tasting menu.
In a warm and intimate atmosphere, this is the ideal setting for a dinner for two.
Space is very limited: that's why this restaurant only works with reservations (you can make yours by calling 967 764 290).
In Alvor, you can visit the Caniço, a unique setting. This restaurant is located inside a cave in the middle of the cliffs, being accessed by elevator inside the tourist village Prainha. If you want to have a privileged view, it is advisable to make a reservation, as this restaurant is very popular, due to the experience it provides.
As expected, seafood and fish could not be missing from the menu. In other years, in the normal bathing season, the party extends to the beach and, in this place, good memories are always recorded.
Undoubtedly a mandatory place to visit, whether for the Algarve or outsiders.
The Algarve also has beautiful landscapes that don't need to have the sea or the beach as the main character. Proof of this is the restaurant Moonlight of Foia.
Situated between Monchique and the highest point in the Algarve, Alto da Fóia, this restaurant overlooks the beautiful mountains. On clear days, you can also see the coast and the sea, far away.
To go against the custom in Algarve restaurants, where fish is usually the main menu item, Luar da Fóia, surrounded by nature, offers mountain cuisine. More specifically, from the Monchique area, with game dishes being some of the main delicacies on the menu. But there is plenty to choose from, between excellent local sausages and a good wine list.
Reservations are advised (+351 282 911 149), especially if you want to stay in the terrace area, with a privileged view.
The Castle of Silves is too beautiful a scenario not to take advantage of the view: this is how the corner of the moors.

A very welcoming space with rustic features, in which the red color predominates due to the use of Grés de Silves stone. Wild boar dishes are a specialty of the house.
During the week, the menu is fixed, however, at the weekend, you have more options to choose from, all within the traditional Portuguese cuisine.
To enjoy the beautiful landscape, it is advisable to stay on the restaurant's terrace (with a capacity for 40 people).
With the sea and the river ahead, overlooking the city of Portimão, on the Ferragudo pier, we have the restaurant southeast. Here “you can enjoy the freshest fish, grilled with knowledge and skill”.
In addition to grilled fish, the typical Xerém and Algarve sweets are a must on the menu. On Sunday, enjoy the Feijoada de Buzinas.
A peculiarity of this restaurant is that the owner offers Lancha Sueste, free of charge, to customers who moor their boat at the marina of Portimão or by the mouth of the river.
