Albufeira challenges to photograph the municipality's biodiversity

Papers can be submitted until May 30th

Awakening interest in discovering species of fauna and flora existing in the county is the objective of the contest “Discover and Photograph the Biodiversity of Albufeira”, which the Municipality of Albufeira is promoting in partnership with the Portuguese Environment Agency, Associação Vita Nativa – Environmental Conservation and Zoomarine.

«It is intended that the participants capture, in addition to images of sun and sea, always spectacular in these parts, other environmental values, equally important and that can be found in various places, ranging from the interior of the county, as is the case from the Ribeira de Quarteira site, in Paderne, to its vast coastal area».

The winner of the contest will receive a voucher for a tour of the coast and the Algarve mountains (valid for two people). The 2nd place winner will be entitled to “a voucher for a Jeep Adventure tour through the Algarve mountains (valid for two people)” and 3rd to two tickets (1 day) for adults at Zoomarine.

Those interested in participating can do so for free, until the 30th of May, by filling out the form. available here.

«All those passionate about photography and the preservation and dissemination of the natural heritage of the municipality of Albufeira can participate, as long as they are over 18 years old», states the municipality.

Each participant can only compete with one photograph, which must be uploaded to the contest platform, with the following specifications: photo title; species portrayed (common and scientific name); local; descriptive memory (up to 100 words); author's name; birth date; email and phone.

The photos must obligatorily respect the theme “Albufeira Biodiversity”, they must be taken in the municipality and “invite you to discover the potential natural values ​​of the photographed places”.

Photographs are also required to be original, “not manipulated and unsigned”, they must not have “been submitted or awarded in other competitions” and the size of the files must be less than 20 MB.
