Here comes a “Bezaranha” of culture for the whole Algarve

Investment in the project is 800 thousand euros

It's called "Bezaranha" and it goes to show that “there are winds that come for good”. This is the name of a pioneering project, in the area of culture, which brings together the 16 municipalities of the Algarve, the Regional Directorate of Culture and AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community, which will be presented this Thursday, 15 April.

For the first time, the Algarve has a network made up of 16 municipalities, the Regional Directorate of Culture and other cultural agents in the region to implement a joint project in the area of culture.

«This is, in fact, the main innovative aspect of this cultural network programming that results from an application submitted by AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community, under the Algarve Regional Operational Program (CRESC Algarve 2020) and which was approved on 30th December”, says AMAL, in a press release.

«The program, to be promoted in partnership with the 16 municipalities of the region and the Regional Directorate of Culture, covers a set of cultural initiatives and events in all the Algarve's municipalities, thus contributing to support local artists in each municipality. itineraries between councils», he adds.

"Furthermore, it aims to enhance the territory, namely with the promotion of outdoor events which, on the one hand, allows to adapt events to the conditions of the pandemic reality and, on the other hand, to program cultural activity in monuments, in historic sites and even in unconventional places'.

This project is also intended to boost cultural tourism and attract new audiences and visitors to the region, as a contribution to tourist activity and combating seasonality.

Cultural activity in the region has dropped drastically because of Covid-19 and AMAL is now seeking, on an inter-municipal scale, to support cultural dynamics in the region. The total investment in the project, which is financed by the CRESC ALGARVE 2020 Operational Program and the FEDER-European Regional Development Fund, is 800 thousand euros.
