With the motto “We are the memory we have and the responsibility we assume. Without memory we don't exist, without responsibility maybe we don't deserve to exist”, by José Saramago, the play “Memories”, which will be presented at Casa das Virtudes (Faro), will lead the audience to a utopian creation, in a game of lights and sounds, with dancing and some aerial acrobatics.

The Casa das Virtudes, located in the Ribeirinho Park of Faro, reopens to the public on April 23, with the premiere of the play «Memories», written by the duo Gérald de Oliveira and Ricardo Morujo, which will be on stage until May 2nd.

In the rehearsal open to the media, the duo rehearsed three scenes from the play, showing some of their work to journalists. The idea for the show, explained Ricardo to the Sul Informação, «was taking up the issue of memories of the human being».

The piece tells the story of two scribes who wander through a mundane world, where they collect memories and experiences of the beings that inhabit it.

Being totally alien to human behavior, during the writing of diaries, «they relive memories, passing through their bodies all the emotions that human beings feel when they are experienced» These experiences will take them on a journey of experiencing sensations collected, whether they are good or bad.

Throughout the show, the two scribes “go through an evolution in terms of memories, passing through the good memories, which are the pillar of the human being, and arriving at the bad ones, the dark side that the human being can also have”.

At the end of the show, they will have to make a decision, "whether they will continue and help human beings or give up". Therefore, the invitation remains: «you have to come and see the show to find out», says Gérald.

The presentation will last approximately 50 minutes.

Gérald and Ricardo, in addition to being protagonists and linked to the drama, staging and scenography of the play, are also two of the founders of Casa das Virtudes.

Gérald joined the Professional School of Arts and Crafts of Spectacle, the famous Chapitô school, where he produced and staged his first show, a children's play.

From there, he began producing and staging several plays, participating in various animation and show projects at national and international level, being also a producer in various aspects such as animation, show, events, street projects, television, among others.

Ricardo Morujo started his professional life at the age of 18 at Teatro Maria Vitória. He made several television programs and participated several times in the opening of the Golden Globes.

He took part in several shows by Filipe Lá Feria, at Teatro Politeama and Casino de Estoril, and later joined the permanent cast of tour of the singer Blaya, as a dancer, with whom he has toured nationally and internationally.

In August 2019, Gérald and Ricardo decided to change their lives overnight. «In two weeks, we decided to pick up our things, packed our bags, said goodbye to our jobs in Lisbon and came here», thus heading to the Algarve, more precisely to Faro.

With two more partners, they founded Casa das Virtudes, a cultural project with the purpose of welcoming and promoting Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking arts and artists, with a multifaceted program such as circus, dance, music, plastic arts, among others.

The project opened its doors in January 2020, with great success, but was forced to close shortly afterwards due to the pandemic. Still, no one stopped working, even though they were in layoffs. "We were here every day so that the reopening had a great show, so that people can come here and have fun", guaranteed the duo.

For the future, there was the promise of more shows, now opening the season with «Memories», which will be on stage from April 23rd to May 2nd, with sessions on Friday, at 21 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday, at 00:11 am, at Casa das Virtudes, in Faro.
