The Silves Capital da Laranja Show will take place between the 16th and 18th of April, in a fully online format. The virtual nature of the event, which was already scheduled for February but has been postponed, did not prevent the Silvense Chamber from putting together «a vast program of activities, which includes the Orange XXI Conference, dissemination sessions with orange producers from Silves, showcooking and cocktail making, notes on dance, music and magic, and the special edition of TVI's Somos Portugal television program».
Even before the show starts, there will already be something to see, an artistic installation by the Algarve artist Tó Quintas, which consists of «a replica of the Ponte Velha made using two tons of orange from Silves», which will be inaugurated on the 15th. , at 19:00 pm.
This work of art, with installation and assembly scheduled from April 12, will remain on display for about six days.
On the 16th, the exhibition will feature the traditional Orange XXI Conference, which will take place online and is scheduled to start at 15:00. In it, specialists will debate the themes that currently concern citrus growers and pose challenges to this sector.

On April 17, “online visits” will be promoted to various orange producers, between 10:00 and 12:00.
«In the afternoon, it will be the turn of the Algarve Barmen Association (ABA) to present a showcooking with the confection of a gastronomic note with an orange flavor, followed by cocktail suggestions using this citrus fruit. At 17:00 pm, the Sociedade Filarmónica Silvense will perform and at night the Association STAM will promote a dance show, at 21:30 pm», described the Câmara de Silves.
The last day of the event, April 18, will start with a new session to promote orange producers, between 10:00 and 12:00. At 13:00, another orange-flavored cocktail will be suggested by ABA. Between 14 pm and 00 pm, the TVI Somos Portugal program will take place, the 20th Mostra Silves Capital da Laranja special.
“The program will culminate with performances by Rancho Folclórico do Algoz and the young magician from the forest Miguel Alves, at 21 pm and 00 pm, respectively”, concluded the municipality.
