A woman of Ukrainian nationality, 42 years old, was seriously injured after falling off a 10 meter high cliff on Poço Velho beach, in Olhos d'Água, in the municipality of Albufeira.

The alert was given at 17:00 pm, and the Maritime Police picket was sent to the scene.

At the site, the patrol found the woman, who, «apparently, (…) jumped the security barrier that exists in the area».

The victim was removed from the beach and transported by helicopter to the hospital in Faro "in serious polytraumatized condition", according to the Maritime Authority, which recommends that, during walks along the cliffs, the population respects "signage, as well as safety barriers to avoid accidental falls".

In addition to the Maritime Police, elements of the Albufeira Volunteer Fire Department, a VMER and an INEM helicopter and the Amarok vehicle from the Seawatch project were also present.
