The Chamber of Faro on the 9th, it signed a protocol with the Saúde em Dialogue Platform, the entity responsible for the health literacy project Espaço Saúde 360º Algarve, which will "enable to strengthen the implementation of support and training strategies for the elderly in the municipality".
The Espaço Saúde 360º Algarve is a project that "seeks to promote health literacy among the older population, namely Algarve citizens over 65 years of age, underprivileged socioeconomic conditions and low in education", according to the City Council. Faro.
"Users undergo an assessment, which allows the preparation of a personal action plan, which provides for the recommendation of activities in various areas of intervention, with permanent personal monitoring and benefiting all participants in the activities developed by the project partners" , added the municipality.
After signing the protocol, the municipality of Faro starts to collaborate in the program's initiatives, «namely in the identification and referral of users who can be included in its target audience, especially the most financially and socially vulnerable, and in the inclusion of users of Espaço Saúde 360º Algarve in its activities aimed at the elderly ».
The project is supported by the CRESC Algarve 2020 Operational Program and Portugal Inovação Social.
The Chamber of Faro it has, since 2012, a Support Office for the Elderly and the Working Group in the Area of Aging (GTAI), which includes 11 entities with responses in this area.
«Also in this context, the municipality implemented projects such as home care, support in the purchase of medication (through the Abem card), or the GPSS – Proximity Group for the Promotion of Social Rights and Security (in partnership with the GNR). Simultaneously, the autarchy has promoted the "Faro Senior”, a set of recreational and educational initiatives, which promote active aging and improve the quality of life, minimizing the isolation of the municipality's older citizens», concluded the Chamber.
