Farense lost 1-0 to Marítimo, in a game counting for the 26th round of the I Liga, played today, Saturday, in Funchal.

The Algarvians created enough opportunities to score at least one goal, but the home team, in addition to being more effective, had an inspired Amir, a goalkeeper who signed high-level saves.

Farense showed from the beginning that they went to Madeira with the aim of bringing three points to the mainland and trying to reach the goal.

Even so, and despite having managed to create difficulties for the anniversary, there were no glaring opportunities to score for the Algarve.

Marítimo, who showed difficulties in building a game, also tried, at intervals, to reach the visitors' area, but equally without great danger.

At 33 minutes, Farense is very close to the goal, twice. Following a corner, Ryan Gauld headed into the angle, but Amir, half to the bar, denied the goal with a great save. On the reload, Amine tried to put the ball in the goal, but the islanders' goalkeeper denied the goal again, this time on the limit and with the body inside the goal.

The protests from the Algarve, who claimed that the ball entered the goal, were many, but the referee ordered the game to continue.

The goal would have come before the break, but it was for the home team. On minute 43, Alipour took advantage of a mistake made by Farense's defense and put Marítimo on a 1-0 win.

In the first minutes of the second half, Farense was close to a draw several times, but Amir's hit or the players from Faro prevented a tie.

And it was close that Marítimo did not extend the message, over the 50th minute, following a corner.

From here, the game opened and there was danger around each goal. At 58 minutes, and after the home team had created danger, Maddi, already in the small area, paddled against Amir, wasting a good opportunity to draw.

Until the end, there were other opportunities for the Algarve, but the goal never came.

In this way, the 1-0 remained until the end.

With this result, Farense went down to 17th place, below the waterline, and risks ending the journey in last place, if the national beat Santa Clara.

Next week, the class of Faro receives Sporting at the Estádio de São Luís.
