Esperança is the central theme of the 21st Photographic Race in Portimão

Competing images must be sent by midnight on the 24th of June, after mandatory registration, but free

Hope is the central theme of the 21st Photographic Race in Portimão, which in 2021, and for the second consecutive year, is once again adopting the offline format. Registration is open between May 3rd and June 14th.

Despite the non-presential format, the event will continue to take place “close to the social and human reality of this period, open to the attentive and creative gaze of its participants”.

As individual presence limited to the territory of the municipality of Portimão will not be required, photographers from anywhere in the country may participate, through a free electronic registration and subsequent submission of images of the four proposed themes, in JPEG format, online .

In this sense, the 21st Photographic Race of Portimão will work on the following four themes: 1st – Finally Here; 2nd – I miss this moment; 3rd – I see Colors, Many Colors; 4th – Happiness is This. Each participant must present three original photographs of each theme, a total of 12, in JPEG format files.

Those interested in participating should consult the regulation of this photographic event, available by clicking here , and obligatorily register between the 3rd of May and the 14th of June, with 24h00 on the 28th of June being the deadline for sending photographs.

Electronic registration should be done by clicking here, which can also be held at the reception of the Portimão Museum, on Tuesdays between 14:30 pm and 18:00 pm, and from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 18:00 pm.

“In this way, the indications of Unesco and ICOM – International Council of Museums are followed, in order to collect testimonies for future memory, in this case photographic, representative of the impact of the current pandemic on the daily lives of different communities and in the hope of a return to a more normal experience», stresses the organization.

This initiative commemorates at the same time the 13th anniversary of the Portimão Museum, inaugurated on May 17, 2008.

The Photo Race has how media partner o Sul Informação and the support of the following companies and entities: Ocean Revival, CLCC, ETIC Algarve, Restinga, Anana – Hospitality Concepts and Grupo de Amigos do Museu de Portimão.

Last year, the big winner was Francisco Martins, with a set of black and white images. But there were other awardees.
