Conceição Cabrita, mayor of Vila Real de Santo António, elected by the PSD, was arrested this Tuesday, April 13, on suspicion of corruption, in the context of a real estate business, in Monte Gordo.

According to TVI, at issue is the 'sale of a property to a company, in Monte Gordo, for values ​​below the market, with the municipality having been harmed'.

There are also "suspicions of compensation for the mayor and for an official of the City Council, also detained", says this television channel.

In total, "four arrests were made, including two officials on suspicion of active corruption, for bribes to Conceição Cabrita."

At the Town Hall of Vila Real de Santo António, from 8:00 am, searches of the Judiciary Police.

Conceição Cabrita has been the mayor of Vila Real de Santo António since 2017, but, before that, she had already been a councilor and vice-president in the terms of Luís Gomes.

the mayor had already announced that he will not re-apply for the position in this year's Local Elections, and the PSD candidate for the Vila Real de Santo António Chamber will be, curiously, Luís Gomes, who will try to assume the position of president of this municipality again.
