Covid-19: Flight rules remain and land border with Spain remains closed

Prime Minister António Costa revealed this Thursday

The rules for air circulation will remain the same in the next phase of the deconfinement plan that starts on Monday and the land border with Spain will remain closed for the next 15 days, announced the prime minister.

“Regarding flights, the rule is the rule that is in force, therefore, in most origins that have less than 500 cases per 100 inhabitants, they can come as long as they have a test. Other than that, they can come and undergo a test, more quarantine”, said António Costa, at the press conference that followed the meeting of the Council of Ministers, which was assessing the situation of the pandemic in Portugal, in order to assess the conditions to evolve to the next step of the deconfinement process.

The government official gave the example of passengers from the United Kingdom, who continue to be able to enter national territory only with proof of a negative test for the presence of SARS-COV-2, and of those coming from Brazil, who, in addition to the test , still have to be subject to quarantine.

As for the land border with Spain, António Costa said that, despite the positive evolution of the pandemic in both countries, it remains closed for the next 15 days.

The third stage of the decontamination plan, which starts on Monday, applies to the country as a whole, except in seven municipalities (Alandroal, Albufeira, Beja, Carregal do Sal, Figueira da Foz, Marinha Grande and Penela), which will remain with the rules currently in force, and four (Moura, Odemira, Portimão and Rio Maior), which will retreat to the 'tighter' rules of the first phase of deconfinement.

On May 3, the last phase of this plan is advanced, the practical application of which is, however, dependent on the evolution of contagions and the number of new cases of Covid-19.
