The Minister of Internal Affairs stated today that the Government will adopt on Thursday "a fair balance" between disconfinement and restrictive measures, or suspension of the reopening process, in the areas most affected by covid-19.

This reference to the Council of Ministers on Thursday, which will announce the set of activities that may reopen as of Monday, as part of the third of four stages of the Government's deconfinement plan, was made by Eduardo Cabrita moments before for the parliament to approve by a large majority the renewal of the state of emergency for a new period of 15 days.

According to Eduardo Cabrita, on Thursday, “based on all the scientific information available up to the last moment, the Government will not fail to adopt a fair balance between the will and need for disconfinement and the absolute determination of restrictive measures or a possible pause and suspension in the reopening process where necessary”.

“The path of what we are doing today is one more step. They are 15 decisive days that are in the hands of all Portuguese”, warned the member of the Government, in a speech in which he considered that there was “a genuine will of all for this to be the last state of emergency in Portugal”.
