There are five new cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, on a day when there were no deaths in mainland Portugal, according to the epidemiological bulletin of this Monday, April 19, which has just been released by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS). R(t), transmissibility index, decreased and Portugal improved in the risk matrix.

On a national level, this Monday there are over 220 infections, a low number, and only one death, registered in the Azores. This is the lowest number of deaths since August 2020.

On the other hand, admissions (+26) and patients in Intensive Care (+3) increased.

According to data from the DGS, most of the new cases were registered in the North (97). This is followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (+56), Centro (+24), Madeira (+15), Azores (+14), Alentejo (+9) and Algarve (+5).

As for those recovered, there are over 547 people who have managed to eradicate the disease, a total of 789.216 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Active cases went down again, now being 25.059 (down 328).

When it comes to the risk matrix, there is good news.

The R(t), transmissibility index, decreased from 1,05 (at national level) to 1 and from 1,04 on the mainland to 1.

The incidence rate, in turn, increased, but slightly, being, at the national level, at 71,8 cases per 100 inhabitants (previously it was 71,6) and at 68,1 at the continental level (previously it was 68).

These numbers make Portugal better in the risk matrix, being at the limit between the first and second squares.

Finally, there are now 20.823 under surveillance (111 more than yesterday).
