Cineteatro Louletano reopens with Teresa Salgueiro and Eunice Muñoz

Concert halls may reopen on April 19, according to the deconfinement plan

A concert by Teresa Salgueiro and a play by Eunice Muñoz are two of the highlights of April at Cineteatro Louletano, a month in which this cultural space should open its doors again, in accordance with the government's plan to deconfine.

If all goes as expected, the Cineteatro will reopen on April 19th, which makes this month's schedule a hybrid that brings together online events until the 10th and then a return to public events.

The 19th will be special, not only because it marks the reopening of the halls nationwide, but also because it marks the 91st anniversary of the oldest hall in Loulé and one of the oldest in the Algarve: the Cineteatro Louletano.

Thus, at 19 pm, to celebrate the return of the public to this venue, there is a Portuguese “muse” with an international career. It is Teresa Salgueiro. «The former vocalist of Madredeus brings us “Por Dentro do Silêncio”, with her discreet and delicate presence and an extraordinary voice», says Câmara de Loulé.

Another highlight of this month's program takes place on the 27th, with an actress who needs no introduction: Eunice Muñoz joins her granddaughter and actress Lídia Muñoz on stage to bring us “A Margem do Tempo”, a play staged by Sérgio Moura Afonso with which At 92, Eunice intends to leave the stage.

But Abril at Cineteatro will have much more. To start the month, the section “Cinema on Thursdays” is extended, with the support of the Loulé Film Office and curated by Rui Tendinha, with two great films, “Corte de Cabelo”, a classic by Joaquim Sapinho that made a splash in theaters Portuguese cinema and “The Death of Louis XIV”, a 2016 historical drama directed by Albert Serra and starring Jean-Pierre Léaud that premiered at Cannes in 2016.

In April, the films of “Cinema à Quintas” can be seen free of charge on the Cineteatro Louletano Facebook page, between 19pm and midnight.

April also brings us a theater play staged for video, conceived by professionals, “Desconfi(n)ados – Uma Short-Long Theater”, by the Community Theater Group – Quarteira Fora da Caixa, on the 3rd of this month.

On the 10th, more theater, but this time influenced by music, with the Companhia de Música Teatral. “O Céu por Cima de Cá” has a show at 17 pm.

Closing the Cineteatro Louletano online programming via Facebook, also on the 10th, we propose music with “Encontro ao Piano”, in an event in which singer César Matoso joins pianist Tiago Sequeira for an intimate concert.

Shortly after, on the 23rd, Dança invades the Cineteatro stage, with the company In Tranz Yt, a young group from Vila Nova de Famalicão, which bets on its own creations, as well as on reinterpretations by other companies, and which has been gaining wings in Portugal and abroad.

On the following day, on the 24th, it is the turn of the Harp Festival to “invade” the Auditorium of Solar da Música Nova, with the talented harpist based in the Algarve Helena Madeira and several students from the Loulé Francisco Rosado Music Conservatory.

On the 29th, dance again, with “Dias Contados”. Choreographer Elizabete Francisca portrays a drama that has affected many young people, including herself: the cost of housing and the scourge of evictions in rented houses.

Finally, to mark the International Jazz Day, on April 30, there will be a concert with CAL Jazz Collective.
