Film Club of Faro returns to activity with “Pleasure, Comrades!”

Film Club of Faro celebrates 65th anniversary today

The Film Club of Faro will resume today, April 23, at 19:30 pm, the activity with the screening of the film “Prazer, Camaradas!”, at Club Farense. The return, as part of the 25th of April commemorations, takes place on the day the community celebrates its 65th anniversary.

The return «is celebrated among us and with all our members and friends, in a nostalgic, anxious, but cautious way», says the Cineclube.

The preview of "Pleasure, Comrades!" will feature the presence of its director José Filipe Costa.

The film portrays the post-revolution of the 25th of April, "in a playful game" where non-professional actors are proposed to "dramatize the memories of a revolution that was not only political, but also sexual and of customs," says the director.

With some improvised scenes, the work "confronts the ideas and behavior of foreigners and Portuguese about the intimacy and experience of sexuality", in a request by the director for the actors to "dramatize the scenes instead of reconstituting them as facts from the past ».

On the 25th of April, at 10:30 am, the Cineclube will screen seven international animated short films on the theme “Freedom Brings Responsibility”, also at Club Farense.

As for the return to full activity, «it is still dependent on details, constraints, authorizations that squeeze us in the chest and postpone the much-desired recovery, leaving a lump in our throat», emphasizes the community.

For now, this return is limited to the 25th of April celebrations, but the Cineclube de Faro it has “eyes set on the future as a space for affirming fraternity, equality, freedom, humanism, solidarity, culture and cinema”.
