Aljezur sees incidence taking a "leap" and risks taking a step in the mistrust

Portimão remains above 240 cases per 100 inhabitant

Aljezur, with 501 cases per 100 inhabitants, in 14 days, is now the municipality in the Algarve with the highest incidence of Covid-19, according to data released this Friday, April 23, by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS ).

The municipality of Aljezurense was, with Olhão, target of a notice from the prime minister, following the Council of Ministers which discussed and decided to continue the decontamination process, except in some municipalities where the situation has not improved or even worsened in the previous 15 days, including Portimão and Albufeira.

And if, a week ago, Aljezur already had 304 cases per 100 inhabitants, the situation is now more serious, with an increase in the scale of the risk of contagion, from high to very high, something that could jeopardize the continuity of the deconfinement process in this county.

In Olhão, however, the trend was inverse, with the number of cases dropping below 12 per 100 thousand inhabitants (110), when a week ago it was at 131.

In the update made today, for the period between the 7th and 20th of April, Portimão, one of the four municipalities in the country that backtracked in mistrust, as they remain above 240 cases per 100 inhabitants in last week's assessment, saw this indicator drop from 382 to 306 in one week.

Albufeira, who did not regress, but was forced to lock in confinement, for being above 120 cases in two consecutive evaluations, dropped from 226 to 159.

Of the Algarve councils that were also nominated by the prime minister, in the announcement made last week, but which continued to become disoriented, Lagoa even lowered the number of cases per 100 inhabitants - from 119 to 75 -, while Vila do Bispo passed from zero incidence to 19.

In today's report, highlight, still, Vila Real de Santo António, which rises above the level of 120 cases, now standing at 139.

As for the other municipalities in the Algarve, there are four at the lowest level, with less than 20 cases per 100 inhabitants, two of them, Alcoutim and São Brás de Alportel, with zero incidence. The others are Castro Marim (16) and the aforementioned Vila do Bispo (19).

From 20 to 59,9 cases, there are three municipalities: Silves (50), Loulé (49) and Monchique (20).

With values between 60 and 119,9 cases, they are Faro (100), Tavira (90) and Lagos (66), in addition to the aforementioned municipalities of Olhão (110) and Lagoa (75).

The risk matrix, which was updated today, reports a decrease in the incidence rate. The transferability, on the other hand, has not changed from Wednesday's update.

The incidence rate is now 72,1 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, nationally, and 68, 3, in mainland Portugal. Before, it was, respectively, 72,7 and 68,9.

The transmissibility index or R(t) remains at 0,98 throughout the country and at 0,99 if only mainland Portugal is considered.
