University of Algarve joins the Higher Education Mentoring Network

The network consists of 11 institutions

The University of Algarve (UAlg) formalized this Friday, March 26, its adhesion to the Higher Education Mentoring Network.

The network, made up of 11 institutions, «takes on as its mission the strengthening of bonds of cooperation, dialogue and sharing of experiences capable of influencing participatory and solidary processes of integration and experience in Higher Education», says UAlg.

UAlg's adhesion passed through the subscription of the “Letter of Mentoring/Peer Mentoring – Guiding Principles for Integration and Solidarity Experiences in Higher Education”.

Vice-rector Saúl de Jesus participated in this session, held within the scope of the International Seminar on Mentoring, and presented the “Peer Mentoring Program”, explaining some experiences already carried out and those intended to be developed in this area, according to the “ Guiding principles of the Peer Mentoring Program at the University of Algarve”.

This program, which has been carried out at UAlg since the 2015/16 school year, consists of assigning a mentor to the student who so desires, through an application and selection process, in order to promote and support their integration at UAlg and its academic success.
