Faro gives schools another 100 euros to buy computer equipment

This sum comes in addition to the more than one million euros that had already been transferred by the City to school groups

The Chamber of Faro will increase by 100 euros the funds allocated to the five school groups in the municipality for the acquisition of computer equipment.

The municipal executive from Farense approved, at the Chamber Meeting on Monday, the addenda to the protocols for delegation of powers and transfers of means celebrated on 19 January with the groups of Schools João de Deus, Pinheiro and Rosa, Tomás Cabreira, D. Afonso III e Montenegro, to increase funds in the amount of 100 thousand euros.

In practice, this means that the municipality, "which had already approved the transfer of more than one million euros to educational establishments, decided to allocate an extraordinary financial contribution of 20 thousand euros to each of the five groupings of schools, in an amount a total of 100 thousand euros, for the acquisition of computer equipment as part of the support to the distance teaching and learning process, to be distributed to students from needy families in the municipality».

«The municipality of Faro intends to continue to contribute to the improvement of the educational reality in the county, while reinforcing the autonomy of the groups' directions, putting into practice an integrated strategy of local management of the school park to respond to the needs of each educational establishment", framed the Farense Chamber.

To face the effects of the pandemic, and within the scope of the protocols for the delegation of powers and transfer of resources signed in 2020, the municipality had already approved, in June, «the attribution of an extraordinary financial contribution to the João de Deus Schools groupings, Pinheiro e Rosa, Tomás Cabreira, D. Afonso III and Montenegro, in an identical amount of 100 thousand euros, to support distance learning».
