Covid-19: Portugal vaccinated 62 people on Saturday, the highest daily value

Portugal administered 62 vaccines against Covid-19 on Saturday, according to information released this Sunday night by the 'task force', which adds that 80% of those over 80 years of age have already received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The number covers the total number of people who received a dose of vaccine on Saturday and is “the highest figure since the vaccination process began”.

Yesterday, em Faro, the coordinator of the 'task force', Vice Admiral Gouveia e Melo, had said that on Saturday 44 thousand teachers and non-faculty had been vaccinated, representing most of the administered doses.

The information released also adds that the vaccination this weekend allowed the country to reach "another milestone relevant to the success of the vaccination plan: 80% of people over 80 years of age have already been vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine against the Covid-19.

The task force coordinator admitted yesterday, during the visit to the Pinheiro e Rosa Secondary School, that the country will need to hire more professionals to speed up the immunization process in the coming months, but the numbers are still under analysis.

On Saturday, the first day of vaccination of teachers and school staff, he had already mentioned an acceleration of the vaccination process as of April, estimating that it will be possible to vaccinate 100 people a day, taking into account the remittances foreseen for the second quarter.
