Covid-19: Another 62 million euros for social sector financing line

Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security announced today increased support

The Government will reinforce with 62 million euros the line of financing created for the social sector and keep testing in homes until June, announced today the minister of Solidarity.

"We reinforced the line of financing for the social sector, which rose to 227 million euros", said the minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, during the press conference to present new measures to support the sectors of the Economy , Work, Culture and Education.

According to Ana Mendes Godinho, this reinforcement represents an increase of over 62 million euros of the line, which is extended "until the end of 2021, to face the moment" that the country is going through.

Among the measures taken by his ministry, he also announced the maintenance of the preventive testing program for home workers until the end of June.

«Regardless of whether [the employees] have already been vaccinated», Ana Mendes Godinho believes that the measure is important to «guarantee the high levels of control and monitoring of the situation in the homes».

The minister also announced the extension until December 30 of this year of the support to reinforce the hiring of human resources in the social sector .

According to the official, the program has had "a very strong adhesion", with "more than 17 thousand and five hundred workers covered" by this program.
