Castro Marim awards 54 scholarships to secondary and higher education students

Support can reach 2500 euros per year

The Chamber of Castro Marim awarded 54 scholarships to students from the municipality who attend secondary and higher education. In total, 88.500 euros were invested in these supports.

According to the municipality, this is “a commitment to the future and development of the territory of Castro Marim and also a way to promote school achievement, a condition sine qua non for the award of scholarships'.

Of the 54 scholarships, 31 were awarded to secondary education students and 23 to higher education students, with 1000 euros per year for each secondary education student and 2500 euros for higher education students (a value that varies depending on the award of college scholarship).

"At a time when many families are faced with the negative economic impact resulting from the measures taken to combat the new coronavirus, social support is of greater importance and, therefore, in addition to the attribution of scholarships, the Municipality of Castro Marim has readjusted some of the measures already in force to the new reality, such as the expansion of the supply of meals to students from families affected by the economic crisis, as well as ensuring their transport», emphasizes the Chamber of Castro Marim.

The municipality also stresses that the Municipality is "available to assess exceptional or emergency situations, which now lack social support that they have not needed to date" and recalls that families in a situation of economic need equivalent to the A and B bracket , should contact the Municipality's Social Action Office on 281 510 742.
