There are four candidates to build the new bridge to Praia de Faro. O latest international public tender for this project he was finally interested, after the first three were empty, and the Farense Chamber even has a choice.

Three of the Portuguese bidders and the fourth foreign, all of which are «companies in the area, with experience in this type of infrastructure» and that have work done in our country.
The experience and strength of the bidders will be decisive in the phase of choosing the winner of the competition, which is "in charge of the Polis Society", since "in the choice, the proposed value counts 40% and the technical analysis, which determines the capacity and reliability of the company to do the work, counts 60%».
After this period of analysis, there will be a stage for hearing the interested parties”, followed by a final report, the award and the signing of the contract.
"If there is no dispute and complications, we hope to have this process ready by the end of the month," said the mayor from Farense.
Already a start date for the work «is always difficult to pinpoint, because there are many things that can lead to delays», such as disputes and the need for a visa from the Court of Auditors (TC), but Rogério Bacalhau believes that, «if all goes well well, there are conditions to proceed with the work after the summer».
From here, «we have about a year and a half of work».
For now, the process is not yet in the hands of the Chamber, bearing in mind that this was one of the works that should have advanced under the Polis Ria Formosa Program. This makes Sociedade Polis responsible for all procedures, up to the signing of the contract and obtaining the TC visa. "Afterwards, Polis will grant the contract to the Chamber and the work will begin under the authority of the Chamber."
After all, the work will only advance due to to design changes and extra financial effort that the Chamber agreed to do. It was this greater commitment of the municipality that allowed the base value of the project to be increased, in order to make it attractive for companies.
This decision was due to the fact that previous tenders, published in November 2017, December 2018 e September 2020, have been left empty.
This time, the Polis and the Chamber of Faro they seem to have agreed on a specification and an attractive base price, which opens “positive perspectives” for the work to finally advance.
