Do you have a business idea related to the so-called “blue sector”? Do you need funding to realize your idea? So take the opportunity, as the University of Algarve has launched a competition to support crowdfunding projects in the blue economy.

Within the scope of the Interreg MED Blue Crowdfunding project, CRIA, the Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Division of the University of Algarve, launched a public tender for the selection of two initiatives that will be supported in the realization of Crowdfunding campaigns related to the blue economy.

The invitation is open to candidates (SMEs, start-ups, cooperatives, social entrepreneurs, civic society organizations and NGOs) who develop projects related to the Blue Economy and are located in the MED cooperation area.

Applications must be made using a specific form and submitted by the 28th of February.

The Blue Crowdfunding Project «arose from the awareness that the innovation of the blue economy in the Mediterranean area could be significantly improved if more investment funds were available, considering that a possible solution to this issue could be through the use of crowdfunding», explains CRIA .

The project is led by the Institute for Comprehensive Development Solutions (eZAVOD), from Slovenia, and is co-run by 12 partners from eight Mediterranean countries (Greece, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Belgium, Albania, Italy and Croatia). One of these partners is precisely the University of Algarve/CRIA.
