Silves postpones “Show Capital da Orange” to a more opportune date

Event usually takes thousands of people to Fissul

The 5th edition of the Mostra Silves Capital da Laranja, which was supposed to take place in February, was postponed to a date yet to be announced, due to the pandemic. 

“Given the current legal framework and the health context we are facing, it is not possible to hold the 5th Mostra – Silves Capital da Laranja on the usual date”, laments Rosa Palma, mayor of Silves.

Even so, the Municipality of Silves decided “not to cancel the event, but only to postpone it at a date to be defined in the future, depending on the alleviation of the pandemic situation, with the hope that the return to normality, so longed for by all of us, become a reality as soon as possible».

In this context, «and with the opportunity to take a considered and correct decision, the municipality will carry out an internal reflection, listening to the various agents involved and evaluating all the alternative scenarios already planned», adds the mayor.

Moreover, in 2020, the “4th Mostra – Silves Capital da Laranja” brought to that city “thousands of people, being an event that stimulates the local economy, which has been consolidating, year after year, not only in the county, but in the regional and national panorama».

«This grand anchor event, promoted by the Municipality of Silves, always counts on the valuable involvement and participation of orange producers from Silves, artisans, agents in the agricultural sector, as well as merchants and restaurant entrepreneurs. of waiting, since it is with them and for them that this event takes place», concludes the mayor.
