Re-food Faro will offer more than 10 products, distributed in baskets of essential goods, to 114 needy families in the municipality, in an initiative supported by Missão Continente and Sporting Clube Farense.
Monthly hampers made up of food and hygiene products, totaling 9.200 euros, will be delivered to these 114 households.
"This support reinforces the daily donations of food surpluses made by Continente stores, such as fruit, vegetables, bread and dairy products, ensuring that all households can have access to healthy and diversified food", according to Re-food.
Among the beneficiaries, «in addition to vulnerable families, there are also citizens in prophylactic isolation or in quarantine signaled by the Health Center and the Hospital of Faro».
After the request for food aid issued by the City Council of Faro, the local Re-food nucleus, with the support of its approximately 300 volunteers, ensure the preparation of the baskets. Its delivery to people's homes is the responsibility of the Fire Department, in conjunction with the Civil Protection.
«In order to be able to help all the people indicated, Missão Continente and Sporting Clube Farense joined Re-food, contributing to increase the response capacity of the local nucleus. Among the products delivered by Continente stores in Montenegro, in addition to essential foodstuffs, personal hygiene products were also included, as well as diapers and baby milk, a fundamental help for the approximately 100 children currently supported», concluded the Re- food Faro.
