New sports and leisure spaces are born in a school in Lagoa – but they are for everyone

The project is the result of a protocol between the Chamber of Lagoa and the Ministry of Education

Lagoa will have a new sports and leisure facilities, to be installed on the grounds of the Padre António Martins de Oliveira School (ESPAMOL), intended not only for the school community, but also for the population in general.

A protocol signed between the Câmara de Lagoa and the Ministry of Education will allow the creation of an urban park and a sports park in November, was ratified last week.

This municipal intervention foresees the creation of a soccer field, "with synthetic turf and a bench with 220 seats", as well as "a futvolei field, a basketball field, three training tracks, a jumping track in length, a maintenance circuit measuring 204 meters in length and four picnic areas», according to the Municipality of Lagoa.

Among the various support structures for this equipment, there are two changing rooms, toilets and six exercise equipment.

With this intervention, ESPAMOL, the establishment where it is located one of the Support Units for High Performance at School (UAARE), "it will be provided with better conditions for the practice of sports, aiming at reconciling academic and sporting success, being one more factor to secure young people from Lagos in the county's schools and attract young people from neighboring counties."

The sports park and the urban park will be allocated to the ESPAMOL Schools Group during school hours. Local authorities and the general public will be able to use these facilities after school hours, during weekends and during school breaks.
