The two young women accused of killing 21-year-old Diogo Gonçalves, and dismembering the body, began to be tried this Wednesday by the Court of Portimão. Maria Malveiro, security guard, aged 20, and Mariana Fonseca, nurse, aged 24, are responsible for the crimes of aggravated homicide, desecration of a corpse, two crimes of illegitimate access, one of computer fraud, simple theft and use of a vehicle.~

They are suspected of having killed Diogo, in March of last year, to keep 70 thousand euros that he had received in compensation for the mortal running over of his mother.

The now ex-girlfriends arrived in Portimão around 9:20 am, in two mobile vans, coming from the Prison of Tires, where they are in preventive detention. After reading the indictment, Maria refused to make statements, unlike Mariana, who wanted to present her version of the facts. For that, he asked his ex-girlfriend to leave the room.
