Former Tax Office of Vilamoura will be transformed into Vila Náutica

Project provides for the creation of 16 jobs

The former Tax Office in Vilamoura will be a “Vila Náutica”. This was the winning proposal for that space, under the Revive Nature Background, which, so far, has awarded 12 State properties to private entities.

Questioned by Sul Informação, the Cabinet of the Minister of State, Economy and Digital Transition revealed that, within the scope of the tender for the attribution of tourist exploitation rights in that space, 19 proposals were received.

«The proposal that obtained the best rating was presented by the company Flow Away, SA» and foresees a project with «the creation of 16 jobs, using the local population», whose objective «is to create a new concept in Vilamoura: the Nautical Village».

According to that Ministry, this will be "a unique and multifunctional tourist complex linked to regional cuisine, water sports, with an amphitheater dedicated to promoting activities and debates related to these and other aspects, capable of attracting local customers, national and international tourists, through exclusivity of services and experiences offered, as well as for all the projected dynamic».

The value of the investment to be carried out in this project is not yet known, as it is not required at the stage of submission of the proposal, and must be "presented in a subsequent stage, namely after approval of the project by the respective City Council".

At this moment, the tutelage clarifies, "the adjudication of the property is subject to the approval of the qualification phase".

The Revive Nature Fund aims to recover and enhance public properties, vacant for decades, mostly located in spaces with natural heritage values, which have a high potential for tourist attraction, taking into account their original functions, histories and specificities geographic areas.

In the case of the Algarve, the former Fiscal Post of Vilamoura was the first property to be awarded. The former tax posts of Corte Velha, Cinturão and Junqueira, all in the municipality of Castro Marim, the former Tax Post of Cabanas, in Tavira, and the former tax posts of Sagres and Burgau, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo.
