Algarvia Susana Travassos releases video for the theme “Blues da Madrugada”

Composed by Fred Martins and Ana Terra, Blues da Madrugada is a theme from the album Bird Word

Susana Travassos, from the Algarve, launched the video for the theme “Blues da Madrugada” which addresses issues of social injustice and is part of the singer's latest album, called “Pássaro Palavra”.

Bird Word is the third album in the career of Algarvian singer Susana Travassos. Recorded in Buenos Aires, under the direction of Alan Plachta, the album is composed of his own songs, as well as new songs by Luísa Sobral and Melody Gardot.

«Blues da Madrugada was composed during a night when I was talking at a distance with my friend and partner Fred Martins. Me in Rio de Janeiro and he in Lisbon. We were talking about politics. The violence against street protests in Brazil at the time and the violence of the capitalist system and its liberal democracy. When I hung up I wrote this letter and sent it. In the same morning he set music and sent me. The sadness is knowing that after years the theme is still current with the rise of the far right in our beloved countries: Brazil and Portugal. This symbolic shot continues to reach the hearts of those who do not conform», says Ana Terra, composer of the theme.
