Albufeira: The renovation works on José Fontana Street have begun

Work should be completed in April

The renovation work on José Fontana Street, located in one of the most tourist areas in Albufeira, has already started and should be completed in April.

The intervention, which results from an investment of 135 euros by the Municipality of Albufeira, «consists of repaving the road, placing signs and replacing the public lighting network, particularly at the level of columns, with lighter equipment and with greater safety, and luminaires using LED technology, with significant gains in terms of energy efficiency

The intervention in this artery, which goes from the roundabout next to the descent to Praia da Oura to the roundabout on Estrada de Santa Eulália, began «with the intervention on the sidewalks, next to the roundabout of the Martinique pastry shop, with a view to preparing them to receive the necessary infrastructure in the context of accessibility and public lighting», according to the municipality of Albufeirense.

«In addition to the preparatory work for lifting the tar, earthworks and demolitions necessary for repaving, the work includes the replacement/installation of longitudinal and transversal horizontal signage, creation of accessibility for people with reduced mobility and visual impairment and the replacement of the lighting network public», reinforced the City Council of Albufeira.

For José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, this is «a fundamental intervention to improve the fluidity and road safety, in a tourist area with a great movement of people and vehicles».

The Council of Albufeira also warned of the «inevitable inconveniences» caused during the work.

«To avoid major constraints there will be no traffic cuts, and the municipality has opted for the alternating traffic situation, a solution compatible with the size and location of the work», concluded the municipality.
