Loulé: Family is the motto of the new online-only edition of “Monstrare”

Event is online due to pandemic

"Family". This is the starting point with the films and for the conversations of another edition of “Monstrare” – International Exhibition of Social Cinema, which takes place from 13 to 16 January, in Loulé. 

At a time when the pandemic continues to affect the course of cultural initiatives, the event will be held in a virtual space, that is, on social networks. Thus, through Loulé Film Office's Facebook it will be possible to view the films presented, as well as follow the proposed webinars, while on Instagram there will be room for daily direct and talks with guests linked to the cinema sector.

At the start of the Mostra, January 13, the “shorts” will be highlighted on Short Films Day. Between 17 pm and 00 pm, the organization makes online “Moço”, by Bernardo Lopes, “Sjaaks' Woman is dead and he has to Say Something”, by Eva Zanern (Netherlands), “California”, by Nuno Baltazar; and “Addiction for a happy family”, by Tiago R. Santos.

At 22 pm, director Bernardo Lopes from Quarteira, recently awarded the Revelation Prize at the XXVI Festival Caminhos do Cinema Português with “Moço”, will make a direct on Instagram about this work and the award he received.

The Portuguese-French production “Montanha”, by director João Salaviza, is the proposal of “Monstrare” for the 14th of January. Between 17 pm and 00 pm, it will be possible to view the film on Facebook.

This will be followed, at 21 pm, with a webinar with the producer of “Montanha”, Maria João Mayer. At 00 pm, Loulé actress Victoria Guerra will perform a live on Instagram, thus joining another initiative related to cinema that takes place in Loulé.

The documentary “Tempo Comum” is part of the Mostra's program on January 15th – DOC Day -, available online from 17:00 pm to 20:00 pm. Director Susana Nobre brings to light the theme of motherhood.

Director Susana Nobre and Ivone Machado, director of the Casa da Primeira Infância de Loulé, will be the guests of the webinar, which will take place from 18:30 pm to 19:30 pm, dedicated to the central theme of this film. From 23:00, there will be a talk on Instagram with the screenwriter, director and producer Gonçalo Galvão Teles.

“Mostrare” is the first event in Portugal dedicated exclusively to cinema on social issues.
