Faro invests half a million in works on the road linking Montenegro to the EN125 bypass

This work is an «ancient and legitimate aspiration of the population of the parish of Montenegro»

Rua Bento de Jesus Caraça, which connects the roundabout in the center of Montenegro to the EN125 bypass, will be revamped, in a project costing around half a million euros.

The award contract was signed this Friday, January 15th, between the Chamber of Faro and Sociedade José de Sousa Barra & Filhos, which will carry out the work, whose execution period is 180 days.

«The objective of this intervention is to revitalize the entire artery, which runs from the roundabout in the center of Montenegro (Largo do Povo) to the EN125 variant, with which it merges, giving more space to pedestrians and improving circulation, pedestrian and car from a central area of the parish», explains the Chamber of Faro.

This requalification contract "provides for the renovation of the road, the widening of sidewalks and the elimination of architectural barriers, in addition to the reformulation of the water and sewage, rainwater and electrical networks, as well as the reorganization of traffic and the reorganization of parking areas". adds.

After signing the contract, Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, welcomed «the award of a requalification intervention that represents an ancient and legitimate aspiration on the part of the population of the parish of Montenegro and which will have a profound and crucial impact on the future development of this area, so important for the municipality of Faro».
