Lagoa students receive awards for learning math using new technologies

Six tablets of different brands were offered to students from two classes

Students from the municipality of Lagoa won awards for the use of technology in learning mathematics, in a ceremony that took place in December.

The initiative resulted from a partnership between Câmara de Lagoa and UALG, within the scope of the Innovation and Promotion of School Success Plan MILAGE Aprender+Matemática 2019/2020.

In the Rio Arade Schools Group, the 1st place, with 6 674 points, won an Apple iPad. The 2nd place student (4 points) won a Samsung tablet and the 736rd place student (3 points) won a Lenovo tablet.

«The awarded students attended the 2019th year in the 2020/5 school year, with the mathematics teacher Ascensão André, at the João Cónim Basic School», according to Câmara de Lagoa.

In the Padre António Martins de Oliveira School Grouping (Espamol), the same prizes were distributed, with the top three students, 8th grade students from the Jacinto Correia Basic School, of Professor Daniel Moreira, achieving, respectively, 3106 (1st), 3044 (2nd) and 3002 points (3rd).

The presentation of these awards, which aim at «aiming to enhance mobile learning using smartphones or tablets», was attended by Ana Martins, councilor for education at the Municipality of Lagoa, professor Mauro Figueiredo, coordinator of the MILAGE Learning+ platform at the University of Algarve, Luís Varela, director of the Rio Arade Schools Group and Emília Vicente, director of the Padre António Martins de Oliveira Schools Group.
