"This is an important recognition of the Algarve's restoration, especially at the moment we are going through". This is how João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA), reacts to the award of Michelin stars to six Algarve restaurants, known yesterday, December 14th.

In the 2021 edition of the renowned guide, the Algarve region has six restaurants: Ocean (Lagoa) and Vila Joya (Albufeira), awarded with two stars ('exceptional cuisine, deserves the detour'), and Bon Bon (Carvoeiro ), Gusto by Heinz Beck (Almancil), Vista (Portimão) and Vistas (Vila Nova de Cacela), awarded a Michelin star ('high-quality cuisine, it pays to stop').

The novelty comes with the “Bib Gourmand” award given to Check-in Faro ('great quality/price ratio', it's worth going). This joins the restaurant Avenida (Marina de Lagos), also included in the same category.

João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Tourism Board, welcomes the distinctions of the famous guide, stating that «the Algarve is synonymous with good gastronomy, for the unique way in which it combines quality, variety, tradition and creativity, and favors the incorporation of typical products seasonal. This is the context we find at the destination and is what is recorded in this new edition of the renowned Michelin Guide, which year after year has distinguished the excellence of Algarve cuisine».

“This is also an important recognition of the Algarve's restoration, especially at the moment we are going through. Entrepreneurs and workers deserve it!
