Sculptor Nelson Ramos continues to grow Monchique's wooden nativity scene

Monchique returns to the Serra Natal

Nelson Ramos makes all his sculptures spontaneously, letting the wood guide him to the final result. It was like that in 2017, the year in which he began to carve the wooden nativity scene in Monchique, and it continues to be like that in 2020, when he is creating more pieces to enrich the representation of the birth of Jesus in the City Council.

The already 14 pieces that make up the nativity scene were all created outdoors and for all to see in Largo dos Chorões, in the center of this mountain village, within the scope of the Serra Natal event. This year, despite the pandemic, is no different.

O Sul Informação he climbed the mountain and spoke with the sculptor, who explained his art, but also with Rui André, mayor of Monchique, who challenged Nelson Ramos to embark on this adventure.
