Ana Cabecinha achieves minimums for the Olympic Games in the 20 kilometers march

Athlete Ana Cabecinha, from Clube Oriental de Pechão, today guaranteed a qualifying mark in the 20 kilometers march for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, by becoming national champion for the seventh time, in Olhão.

The Algarve marcher completed the race in the unofficial time of 1:30.18 hours, when the minimum was 1:31, so she will be in the Games for the fourth time, postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ana Cabecinha, 36, was placed eighth in Beijing2008, ninth in London2012 and sixth in Rio2016.

In the race that took place today in Olhão, Inês Henriques (Rio Maior Swimming Club) was second, in 1:36.15 hours, and Carolina Costa (Sporting) completed the podium, in 1:37.43.
