Adriana Marques is the protagonist of the solidarity concert «Tempo de Fado»

Show is an offer to the city of the Grupo de Amigos do Museu de Portimão, on its 6th anniversary

The Algarve fado singer Adriana Marques is the star of the solidarity concert «Tempo de Fado», which is an offer to the city made by GAMP – Grupo de Amigos do Museu de Portimão, on its 6th anniversary. The show, which is part of the City Day celebrations, takes place on December 16, at 20:30 pm, at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão.

Admission is free subject to room capacity.

GAMP members should preferably pick up their tickets, until December 9, at TEMPO's reception, from Tuesday to Friday, between 13 pm and 18 pm.

From the 10th until 18:00 on the 16th, tickets can also be collected by the general public.

Subject to the safety rules in force, this will be a solidarity concert, so the Friends of the Museum of Portimão ask everyone to bring a food or hygiene item, on the day of the show, to donate to a Social Solidarity Association of Portimão.

«We also intend, with this initiative, to pay tribute to the fado singer Amália Rodrigues in the year that celebrates the centenary of her birth and in a period when the temporary exhibition “Bem-Vinda Sejas Amália”, will be on display at the Museu de Portimão, from 12 from December to January 10th”, added those responsible for the GAMP.

The fado singer Adriana Marques will be accompanied by her usual musicians, Vitor do Carmo, on Portuguese guitar, and José Santana, on fado guitar.

The show will last approximately 60 minutes, without a break.

Adriana Marques was born in Monchique and from an early age showed a passion for the stage, although she was only 20 years old when she discovered fado.

He participated in several regional fado competitions, having managed to be among the first 3 places in many of them. From then onwards, she began to be invited to participate in several Fado nights held in the Algarve and Alentejo.

In 2009, he recorded his first record work, expression of the soul, where he sang poets such as Bocage and Florbela Espanca. This record features the Portuguese guitar by Custódio Castelo, the fado guitar by Caje Garcia, as well as Américo Machado on bass. The production was in charge of Paquito.

With the release of this record work, television presentations began, making the recognition of their work even greater. In 2011, she was invited to become a resident fado singer for a Portuguese-style magazine, where she remained for four consecutive years, performing throughout the country.

Combining solo shows and various performances in fado houses in the area, in 2014, Adriana Marques traveled to the Netherlands, where she performed in theaters in Amsterdam and surroundings, with a huge acceptance by the public.

In 2016, she was invited to make a Fado presentation for the President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

That same year, he traveled to Switzerland to participate in an event as a representative of the national song.

It was at the beginning of 2017 that he began recording his most recent record work, produced by Custódio Castelo, with the accompaniment of Carlos Leitão, on the fado guitar, Carlos Menezes, on the double bass, and Custódio Castelo, on the Portuguese guitar.

The disk «Simply» It also featured special guest appearances by Confraria de Medronho de Monchique, Vitor do Carmo and José Santana, on the Portuguese guitar and viola de fado, respectively, as well as by Carla Travessa, on the French horn.

With themes mainly by Custódio Castelo, they can also be found in «Simply» themes by other well-known authors in the Portuguese music scene, such as Jorge Fernando, Mário Moniz Pereira and Amália Rodrigues, among others.
