TASA exhibits “Story Containers” in Faro

This exhibition is the result of a collaborative work between three new artisans and three masters from the Algarve, Alentejo and Andalusia

The exhibition “Containers of stories”, developed by TASA – Técnicas Ancestralis Soluções Auais, is inaugurated this Thursday, 26 November, at the headquarters of the Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) of the Algarve, in Faro.

This exhibition is the result of a collaborative work between three new artisans and three masters from the Algarve, Alentejo and Andalusia through the innovative thinking of design.

«The collection includes pieces that combine sustainable materials, creating new solutions for traditional arts and extolling local identities», explains TASA.

The Alentejo-Algarve-Andalusia Transboundary Initiatives Office project, where this initiative is part, has as beneficiaries the Junta Autónoma da Andalucia, the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission and the Alentejo Regional Coordination and Development Commission and is co-financed by Operational Program for Cross-Border Cooperation Spain Portugal (POCTEP) 2014-2020.

This exhibition aims to promote the spirit of the Algarve-Alentejo-Andalusia Euroregion through handicraft, affirming and promoting it as a profession for the future.

«Proactivetur, through the TASA team, put the project into practice and over several months contacted artisans, traditional techniques and the history of this territory, leading a creative process centered on the collaboration of artisan-designer. The result is a collection of containers in which each piece tells stories: about the resilience of artisans, the modernity of artisanal knowledge and the identities of places», says TASA.

The pieces made with palm, cane, wicker, wood and leather «remember the primordial character of containers as timeless utilities, while assuming and rehabilitating both the uniqueness of natural materials and the nobility of applied craft techniques».

The exhibition will be open until 18 December at the headquarters of CCDR Algarve in Faro (Praça da Liberdade 2) Monday to Friday between 9:00 am and 18:00 pm.

Entry is limited and current security measures must be taken, such as the use of a mask.
