Investalgarve Network meets to debate economic recovery and the agrifood sector

The status of unemployment and measures to combat it will also be on the agenda

AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community will promote a meeting of the regional network of partnerships to support economic development Investalgarve tomorrow, Wednesday, the 11th.

The session, which will be remote and take place online, will feature the participation of experts, who will lead panels on the themes "Instruments to Support the Recovery and Development of the Algarve (2021-2027)" and "The future of the agrifood sector in the Algarve" .

The program also includes an update on employment and measures to combat it, in the Algarve region, by Madalena Feu, regional delegate of the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), and with a presentation of the ReStart Project – Entrepreneurship Support Network, by Hugo Barros, from CRIA – University of Algarve.

As for the panels, the first, dedicated to “Instruments to Support the Recovery and Development of the Algarve (2021–2027)”, will have speakers Luís Gomes, from the University of Algarve, and Carlos Lobo, from Ernst & Young. The moderation will be done by Brandão Pires, AMAL's first secretary.

“The future of the agrifood sector in the Algarve” will be debated by Sara Silva (Algarve Wine Commission), Vítor Neto (NERA) and Miguel Freitas (University of Algarve), with moderation by Pedro Valadas Monteiro, regional director of Agriculture and Fisheries.

The session will also feature speeches by José Apolinário, the newly sworn in president of the CCDR do Algarve (opening) and António Pina, president of AMAL (closing).

Tomorrow's meeting is promoted under the project INOVA ALGARVE 2.0., which results from an application approved under the Support System for Collective Actions (SIAC) – Qualification, within the framework of the Regional Operational Program CRESC ALGARVE 2020, by the Business Association of Algarve Region (NERA), by the Algarve Intermunicipal Community (AMAL), by the University of Algarve and by Tertúlia Algarvia – Center for Knowledge in Culture and Traditional Food of the Algarve.

This project "intends to strengthen the business capacity of SMEs in the region, for the development of innovation processes, stimulating practices of cooperation and co-opetition, raising awareness and empowering SMEs for the critical factors of competitiveness in the fields of innovation", according to AMAL, an entity responsible for the “Stimulation and Empowerment of the Algarve's Innovation Ecosystem – Investalgarve Network”.
