Pinheiro e Rosa marks the Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women

Artistic initiatives will serve to shake consciences

The Pinheiro e Rosa Secondary School, in Faro, is marking, this Wednesday, 25 November, the Day for the Eradication of Violence against Women, with various artistic initiatives.

Based on the tragic number of 30 women killed at the hands of their companions, students from the Professional Health Assistant Technician Course created an installation with 30 chairs, 20 objects and the suggestion of 10 commandments for the survival of a victim.

“Each chair contains an object/message that can become an alarm signal for all women who may be subjugated by an oppressor. Hence the creation of 10 commandments to remind every potential victim that it is always possible to say no. The 3rd year students of the same course will build an evocative exhibition of the perennial marks on women who suffer abuse», says Pinheiro e Rosa.

The 12th grade Theater option group created a theatrical moment, which gave rise to a short video, in which the students list the various pains experienced by women over generations.

Also some students from the Professional Course of Health Assistant Technician of the 1st and 2nd years will enter the classrooms of the 10th year and provoke their classmates with a theatrical moment that portrays an abuse by a dominator or a dominatrix.
