The European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACI), an organ of the European Society of Cardiology, has just granted the Echocardiography Laboratory of the Private Hospital of Gambelas the merit of accredited laboratory in Transthoracic Echocardiography.
This European distinction certifies that the service complies with the best laboratory and service practices, thus becoming the first accredited laboratory in the Algarve in this area.
Hugo Mendonça Café, cardiologist and great promoter of this project, emphasizes that «this accreditation is voluntary».
“In other words: it is not mandatory for the functioning of the Laboratory. However, we wanted to achieve it as a way of recognizing the structured work and, above all, as a promoter of continuous improvement in the quality of the services provided», he explains.
The doctor also thanks the «dedication of a large team, which includes the Administration and the Clinical Direction», but which highlights the doctor Pedro Cordeiro and the cardiopulmonology technician Marta Leitão.
