Farense beat Boavista 3-1, in the 7th round of the I League of football, played this Sunday, November 8th. This was the Algarve's first victory in the championship.

May 5, 2002. This was the date of the last game of the I League in the old São Luís. 18 and a half years later, Farense returned to their stadium and, given the bad moment of form, it was expected that this would be a extra incentive for Sergio Vieira's followers.

The first sign of danger, however, belonged to Boavista. The team from Porto, which came from a moralizing victory against Benfica (3-0), threatened to score in the 5th minute, with a good shot by Paulinho, from the edge of the area, which came out near the post.

Boavista was having superiority in the match and, after the departure of Fabrício (Farense) due to injury, they had a good chance again. Paulinho made a cross from the right, Elis appeared free in the area, shot, but Defendi managed to avoid the goal.

21 minutes were played and the slang says that whoever doesn't score, suffers. The move started and ended with one of Farense's best players: Gauld. The Scot made a first pass to Mansilla and the winger crossed into the area. Boavista's defense made a poor cut and Ryan Gauld appeared in the area to shoot for 1-0 (22′).

Farense improved with the goal and could have increased the advantage in the 32nd minute, again by Gauld, but the Scotsman's header was saved by Leo Jardim.

Only, on the other side, there was also a little genius: Angel Gomes. On 43′, the winger started with the ball still behind midfield, climbed meters and, at the edge of the area, shot well, with no chance for Defendi. The tie with which the teams went to halftime was made.

On the restart, Farense took the lead again in the 50th minute. Ryan Gauld scored a corner and Stojiljkovic headed into the back of the net, in what was the Serbia striker's first goal for the Algarve.

Three minutes later, another corner and another goal. This time, it was Amine who charged and Eduardo Mancha who scored, again head-on. 3-1 for Farense.

Until the end, despite the changes in both teams, the Algarve managed to hold on to the precious advantage. Farense now has 5 points in the championship and occupies, as a condition, the 17th position. In the next round, on November 29, the lions of Faro visit the land of Braga.
