Cristina Teté Garcia, Paula Vaz and Ana Paula Burnay will talk about everyday science

The Centers Algarve Living Science quality Tavira: AE João da Rosa Science Club, from Olhão, and the Europe Direct Algarve join today the celebration of the European Researchers Night, with an event online and broadcast live on the partners' facebook. It will be this Friday, the 27th, from 19:30 pm.

In the online conversation,  we will talk about science in everyday life: «science in our built heritage and science in our natural environment, but also citizen science, the science that any of us can do and/or disseminate».

Thus, at this event, topics related to Heritage, Environmental Volunteering and the role of Europe in Science and Innovation will be addressed, thanks to the participation of Cristina Teté Garcia (Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, Center for Studies in Archeology, Arts and Heritage Sciences), Paula Vaz (Portuguese Environment Agency – ARH Algarve) and Ana Paula Burnay (Europe Direct Algarve Centre).

At the end of the session, there will be “a digital scientific appetizer”.

This meeting is organized as part of the Science and Technology Week 2020 and the European Researchers' Night and is aimed at the general public.

The European Researchers' Night is a public event on a European scale that brings researchers closer to the public. It shows the diversity of science and its impact on citizens' daily lives, stimulating interest in research careers – particularly among young people. In 2019, it attracted 1,6 million visitors in over 400 cities across Europe and beyond.

This year, children, young people and families will once again meet researchers and discover research, science and innovation through practical experiences, scientific shows, games, quizzes, competitions, exhibitions, and digital activities. The event takes place in 29 countries this Friday, November 27th.

Is research fighting cancer, fighting diseases and viruses, stopping global warming, working for sustainable development, contributing to discoveries related to Artificial Intelligence, and facing challenges for a better life? Meet the researchers and discover the fascinating world of science in a relaxed atmosphere – with your family or on your own…
