Companhia Nacional de Bailado premieres “First time” on Saturday in Faro

Show is scheduled for Saturday at 21:30 pm

The National Ballet Company (CNB) presents on Saturday, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, the show “Primeira vez”, after its premiere in Lisbon, in October, having been postponed due to a positive case of Covid-19 in a dancer.

The program “Primeira vez” presents two new creations by Portuguese choreographers Marco da Silva Ferreira (“Bodies de Baile”) and Filipe Portugal (“Teu corpo meu echo”), who are choreographing for the first time for CNB.

“This program underlines the balance of preserving the choreographic heritage but, at the same time, adding new creations, in a relationship between repertoire and creation,” CNB's artistic director, Sofia Campos, told Lusa.

Filipe Portugal was the company's first dancer and now returns to his first house to present a creation with a neoclassical aesthetic, while Marco da Silva Ferreira has a more contemporary approach, influenced by urban dances.

In the show, Filipe Portugal “explores the memories of his journey, but now with the bodies of the company's current dancers, who later transform them into his choreographic composition”.

Marco da Silva Ferreira, on the other hand, presents a creation centered on a “kind of collective body that is increasingly warming up”, anticipated that responsible.

According to Sofia Campos, it is an opportunity for the audience “to see two approaches that clearly underline the versatility and great quality of the dancers”, now led to respond to the personal references of the choreographers.

However, he stressed, these are not experimental works, but creations that “increasingly affirm the company's openness to choreographers” who, even though they have not yet worked with CNB, are recognized for their “quality and creative capacity”, he added.

The show, which cost 15 euros, is scheduled for Saturday at 21:30 pm at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro.

The program “Primeira Vez” will then be presented in Lisbon in December.
