Albufeira invests in new vehicles for basic sanitation

By the end of the year, one more septic tank will be delivered

Albufeira Town Council is replacing old vehicles with new equipment to «provide an effective and efficient response» in the area of basic sanitation.

José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, refers to the importance of this acquisition, stressing that "it is part of the overall investment policy of the Municipality in the area of basic sanitation until the year 2023".

Moreover, "two of the vehicles have already been delivered under the public tender for the supply of a light van-type vehicle, three all terrain vehicles for beach cleaning, one light vehicle with sanitation equipment and two heavy vehicles with sanitation equipment" .

Last week a vehicle was delivered to clean septic tanks for consumers living in areas where there is still no sanitation network, «a situation that in Albufeira is residual, since the percentage of coverage of the basic sanitation network in the municipality already reaches the 95%», says Cláudia Guedelha, councilor responsible for the Water and Sanitation department.

By the end of the year, another vehicle will be delivered to clean pits.

At the end of August, and as part of the same tender, the Municipality received a vehicle to clear the collectors of the domestic wastewater and rainwater network.

This time, it is a light vehicle, equipped with equipment for unblocking and cleaning collectors, mounted on a metal structure.

With this acquisition, the municipality now has two clearing vans, three pit-cleaning vehicles and one more pit-cleaning truck.
